How a Six-Location Hospital System Transformed Hiring—and Patient Care—With Hueman RPO

 

The Challenge

In healthcare, hiring is never just about filling positions—it’s about delivering exceptional care to every patient, every day. Our partner, a large multi-location health system in Tennessee, faced a daunting staffing challenge: more than 800 open roles, many in high-demand specialties like nursing and imaging.

This level of demand put pressure on their talent acquisition (TA) team, impacting both day-to-day operations and the ability to meet critical patient care goals. Leadership recognized the need for a better, faster way to connect with the right talent—and knew their hiring process needed a strategic overhaul to keep up with the needs of their community.

Our Solution

From day one, Hueman became more than a vendor—we became an extension of the hospital’s TA team. Our recruiters and sourcing specialists fully embedded with internal staff, joining team huddles, streamlining workflows, and keeping everyone aligned through weekly updates and open group chats.

Key to our approach:

  • Seamless collaboration: Supporting 14 in-house recruiters and 4 sourcing specialists with regular touchpoints and shared communication channels.
  • Candidate engagement beyond the offer: We ensured every candidate stayed “warm” and supported through onboarding, minimizing drop-off and improving the new hire experience.
  • Continuous process improvement: Early inefficiencies were identified and addressed, creating a more agile, effective hiring system.

Our Results

  • Over 1,100 hires were made across clinical and non-clinical roles, dramatically reducing vacancy rates.

  • The interview-to-hire ratio improved to just 1.8:1, reflecting a more targeted and effective recruitment funnel.

  • Open requisitions dropped from over 800 to roughly 500, delivering stability and operational breathing room.
